Non-Immigrant Visas

Have you ever heard about the alphabet of visas? Picture a bar next to the United Nations. In the bar, we can have the following types of Visas present: A, G, B, J, Q, F, M, H, E, I, L, P, R, TN, K and V. Worst, each of them may have brought a friend. A is there with A-1 through A-3. G has five friends. B came with his two buddies, B-1 and B-2. The list goes on. Each Visa has its own purpose. The friends follow the same purpose but in different ways.

For instance, an A Visa is issued to Diplomats. There are, however, different types of diplomats. Plus, if I am a Diplomat, I most certainly will bring my servants along to drive me around and to get me a beer at the bar. So what does this all mean in practical terms?

You want to come to the U.S. or are here for a specific purpose. The specific purpose must match with the visas that are available. Luckily, there is an alphabet full of them.
